Chiang Rai United first time crowns Thai league 1 Championship in the club’s history on Saturday night
Defending champs Buririam United was looking forward to crown their 7th championships yet a header at the 87th minute denied tham the victory at Chiangmai.
Chiang Rai went on a goal-scoring rampage, beating Buriram 5-2 on their soil.
Despite both teams ended up with identical 58 points with 30 matches, the Beetles was declared to be the winner of the league due to better H2H record.
Chiang Rai tied to buriram in a goaless draw in the first leg and defeated the Thunder Castle 4-0 at home in July.
Chiang Rai is one the the three teams who win the top flight, alongside Buriram and Muang Thong since the since the country's premier tournament was revamped in 2009.
In other matches, True Bangkok routed PTT Rayong 4-0, Chainat upset Chonburi 2-1, Sukhothai escaped relegation by defeating Nakhon Ratchasima 4-2. Muangthong edged Trat 4-3
