AFC names Le Cong Vinh among the ASEAN legends

Former Vietnam striker Le Cong Vinh has recently been named in five best legends in Southeast Asia.

Recently, the AFC has selected eight squads of five legend based on region or tournament. Notably, in the legendary Southeast Asian squad, AFC did not forget to fill the name of the former Vietnam striker Le Cong Vinh.

Le Cong Vinh is the best striker in the history of Vietnam. Playing for the Golden Dragons between 2004 and 2016, the Nghe An-born striker capped 83 times and scored 51 goals. More significantly, Cong Vinh was the one who scored the decisive goal in the second leg of the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup against Thailand, directly bringing the Southeast Asian championship for the first time in Vietnam's history.

At club level, Cong Vinh is also one of the top goalscorers at V.League. After 12 seasons with SLNA, Hanoi T&T, Hanoi ACB and Becamex Binh Duong, the striker scored more than 100 goals, won two V.League titles, a national cup title and three Vietnam golden ball titles in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

In addition, Cong Vinh once played abroad in Leixoes (Portugal) and Consadole Sapporo (Japan) where striker Nghe An also promptly left a few certain marks.

With what has contributed and shown in the past, it can be said that Cong Vinh absolutely deserves to be in the best five legendary team in Southeast Asia.

The best squad includes goalkeeper Neil Etheridge (Philippines), defender Soh Chin Aun (Malaysia), Kiatisuk Senamuang (Thailand) and Bambang Pamungkas (Indonesia).
