‘Vietnamese Ronaldinho’ and his journey to meet Messi, Suarez

Ba Thong is 13 years old and comes from Can Tho. He is one of the 5 brilliant talent kids chosen by Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and NESTLÉ MILO from the 2017 national Phu Dong Health Association.

Comparing with friends at the same age, Ba Thong came playing football a little late. In 2017, Thong helped Can Tho snatch silver crown of a national football tournament.

He has a great technique and possesses a brilliant ball-header skills as Ronaldinho. Ba Thong got lucky to be met such world stars as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar in his 5-day-training session. Two year later from the day he came to Nou Camp stadium, Ba Thong is still holding his intention to be a professional player in the foreseeable future.

Sharing with Zing about his desire to be a player, Ba Thong said:

“To become a good player, I know I have to be a creative, intelligent person, who has a good techniques and professional skills, to be an excellent player. I have to work hard day and night and never stop thinking about it and never give up.

When I was criticized, when I was scolded by my coach and teammates, it was really stern. As every coach wants his/her students to become a best player in the future. The trainings were very strict, but it’s still fun and comfortable.

My parents supported me so much, so I played with great joy and always believe in myself. I think it is destination.”

At grade 4, Ba Thong made it to be the runner-up of a football match within the scope of district. However, his teacher commented about Ba Thong’s style which was tawdry and personal.

Did not betray people’s expectation, Ba Thong is proving his talent more increasingly. At present, he is training in Becamex Binh Duong’s training center. In future, he is promised to be a talented player of Vietnamese football.
