Vietnam is the only invitee to buy 2019 King’s Cup’s copyright
Thể Thao 247 - Until now, Vietnam is the only country loosening purse strings to buy the copyright of 2019 King’s Cup which is worth 7 billion VND for the two King’s Cup matches.
Vietnam NT is about to face Thailand NT in a week in 2019 King’s Cup. Thailand is working on to warm up the tie to attract other countries’ media with the aim of taking profit from selling television copyright.
However, 2019 King’s Cup is still out of Asian’s attention. Some people guessed that even if the game is broadcasted for free, besides Vietnam and Thailand who will agree to show the game, it’s not sure that there is another country want to hold live rights to broadcast it.
More importantly, India and Curacao, the other invitees who will represent at the tournament, never mention about buying the copyright.
Fair to say, the ignoring from zonal countries is understandable as King’s Cup has been held 47 times but Vietnam and Singapore the only representatives of Asian so far. Another reason can come from King’s Cup’s scale as a friendly game where there are only the host and the other 3 participants. The winner is awarded only 50.000 USD (about 1.1 billion VND).
As King’s Cup new format, Vietnam is set to warm up the game by the face against Thailand and the other participants have a joint match. All Asian football fans are waiting for Vietnam and Thailand to join a match of what is seemed a set-up of Thailand to raise the price of King's Cup copyright which might be much lower if there is no facing bettween the abovementioned teams.
