Vietnam go for broke against Thailand tricks in King’s Cup 2019
Facing Thai media tricks, Vietnam NT and coach Park will go for broke in King’s Cup 2019
Thai media assumes that Vietnam, although accepting the invitation, is not ambitious to win.
The Siam Sport wrote: “ Vietnam NT is going to join the 47th King’s Cup and brings their strongest squad. However, their goal is not to win and not interested in the title. They participate in this league just to test their squad ahead of World Cup Qualifiers”
Is that Thailand’s Trick?
Coach Park Hang-seo’s side got 2 wins over Thailand at U23 level yet no confrontation at national level.
U23 Vietnam’s 2-1 win on Chang Arena, Buriram in M-150 Cup 2017 caused Thai fans shocked after witnessing their losses in Asia U23, Asiad and Thailand NT didn’t have any titles. The recent 0-4 loss to U23 Vietnam on Mi DInh stadium pushed the criticism to the peak.
That led Thailand to the decision to invite Vietnam NT to fight at the national level. Thai media tries to provoke Vietnam by their subjective views which challenge Vietnam NT to bring their strongest squad and make them lost pathetically.
Vietnam NT doesn’t care about King’s Cup title?
Whether or not Coach Park Hang-seo’s side wins, it depends on many factors.
This is an important matches since it affects Vietnam’s place in FIFA rankings which later decides their seed pot in the draw of World Cup Qualifiers 2022. Vietnam currently has 1227 point, ranked 98th in the world, 16th in Asia. VN is in the bottom of pot 2 and under fierce competitions from Palestine and India.
Vietnam needs at least a win and a draw to secure their place in Asia rankings. Surely, with their achievement AFC U23 runner up, top 4 in Asiad, top 8 in Asian Cup and AFF cup championship 2018, Vietnam will not be back down.
Therefore, coach Park will call the strongest team with players playing oversea including Dang Van Lam, Luong Xuan Truong, Cong Phuong, and other players like Quang hai, Do Hung Dung, Doan Van Hau, Nguyen Hoai Duc.
