My Dinh stadium grass field has been running down seriously ahead of World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Vietnam is scheduled to play 4 matches at home including Malaysia (Oct 10), UAE (Nov 14), Thailand (Nov 19) and Indonesia (June 4, 2020).

At this time, VFF Vice Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan reported the plans for selecting stadiums to VFF Chairman Le Khanh Hai.

Accordingly, all four matches mentioned above are likely to be held as usual in My Dinh National Stadium, the stadium has regularly held international matches of the Vietnam during the past time. .

However, according to observations at the present time, the grass of My Dinh yard is not as nice and smooth as before. Instead, the ground surface has been dried, frayed and deteriorated a lot, many grass pieces are exposed.

The cause of the serious deterioration of the My Dinh yard is probably due to the harsh weather in Hanoi at the moment when the hot weather peaks at 41 degrees Celsius, in addition to the maintenance department. The pitch has not been repaired since the U23 Asian Qualifier in late March so far, Vietnam has never played a match in My Dinh.

My Dinh yard has been severely degraded since the Asian U23 Qualifier.

VFF Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan also showed great concern about the degradation of My Dinh stadium when World Cup qualifying matches are coming:

“Indeed we feel very uneasy. VFF will make an official dispatch to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the General Department of Sports and Physical Education, expressing the aspiration of supporting the renovation of My Dinh yard soon.

VFF expects the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to direct the National Sports Complex in My Dinh, so that before the first match on Vietnam's home ground in October, My Dinh yard must be completed well ”- Tran Quoc Tuan stated.

According to the schedule, Park Hang-seo's side will kick off the first opening match in Group G on September 5 against hosts Thailand - the team has just signed a successful contract with the famous coach Akira Nishino.
