Yangon United striker Maung Maung Lwin appeared to be very cautious before the match against Ho Chi Minh City, even though their rival doesn’t have much experience in continental tournament.

Compared to the Vietnamese representative, Yangon United had more experience as this was the third consecutive year they participated in the AFC Cup.

“This is the third consecutive year we have participated in the AFC Cup and I am excited because this is one of the tournaments I always want to participate in.

We have proved our position here and we want to maintain our good performance in this tournament, the first priority is to pass the group stage,” said Maung Maung Lwin.

Maung Maung Lwin is one of Yangon United's most notable names.

Assessing Ho Chi Minh in the opening match of Group F, the 25-year-old striker said

Ho Chi Minh City is the toughest opponent in the group, we know they have a squad of many Vietnamese national players.

The experience gained in the AFC Cup will be very important for Yangon United, all teams know our ability so everyone will have to try to double,” Maung Maung Lwin said.

In the 2018 season, Yangon United once made a big progression after reaching the semi-finals and being defeated by the Filipino giant Ceres Negros.

At the AFC Cup 2019, Maung Maung Lwin is also the only goal scorer to help the Myanmar representative defeat Hanoi FC with a minimum score of 1-0 at Hang Day stadium, even though Hanoi was considered stronger.

“I will never forget the match against Hanoi FC. They beat every opponent they met.

But we are one of the teams that thrashed Hanoi FC right on their home turf. And I was the only scorer in that match, an interesting moment,” Maung Lwin shared.
