VPF President: ‘It is not time to cancel V-League 2020'
VPF President - Mr. Tran Anh Tu recently answered about the aspirations of ending the V-League 2020 of some teams participating in the tournament.
Because the COVID-19 pandemic is showing signs of outbreak again, VPF decided to postpone the professional football tournaments of Vietnam, including V-League 2020. This is the second time the tournament has to be delayed, making the clubs greatly influenced financially.
At least 4 teams, SLNA, Nam Dinh, Quang Nam and Thanh Hoa, proposed to finish the 2020 V-League early and based on the current position on the table to give the titles to the clubs. However, VPF immediately rejected this option.
Sharing with VNExpress, VPF Chairman - Mr. Tran Anh Tu said: "VPF has received the proposal of ending V-League 2020 of the four teams standing at the bottom of the table are Quang Nam, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh and SLNA.
Organizing committee also just finished meeting this morning 28/7. We have accepted the recommendations of the teams, but now is not the time to consider the cancellation.”
Besides, Mr. Tran Anh Tu also said that canceling V-League at this time will affect the plans of Vietnam:
"Cancelling V-League will cause a lot of damage, from sponsors, the finance of the tournament as well as the club, to the opportunity to play for the players, maintain the form, serve the national team …
Therefore, VPF can only cancel the event in case of force majeure, when there is not enough time left to organize. " - VPF Chairman, Mr. Tran Anh Tu shared.
