VPF leader: 'We cannot let a team ruin football of the whole country'
VPF President Tran Anh Tu spoke up on Thanh Hoa submitted an application to withdraw from the V.League 2020 for financial reasons.
Recently, Thanh Hoa has submitted an application to VPF, VFF announced its withdrawal from V.League 2020. The reason for Mr. De comes from the lack of financial problems after COVID-19.
However, despite the announcement of quitting, Thanh Hoa Club also left open the possibility of continuing to attend when V.League returns if financially supported by VPF, VFF.
Following this incident, VPF spoke up. Sharing with Lao Dong newspaper, VPF chairman Tran Anh Tu said:
"There might be concerns about the epidemic, so 4 clubs, Quang Nam, Nam Ha Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa and Song Lam Nghe An, have sent suggestions to end the tournament soon. VFF has not received any more letters from other clubs related to this ".
Mr. Tu continued: "Being a professional football club, it is normal to ensure funding to maintain activities year-round, including breaks between two seasons. In addition, we cant let a club to ruin the whole system. If the tournament is canceled, the player cannot play in more than 6-7 months, what will be the result? We can see that. "
Earlier, during a press conference on July 28, VPF stated that the V.League 2020 would still take place as usual when the covid 19 pandemic is under control, not canceled as suggested by many teams. Chairman Tran Anh Tu said:
"At the moment, the main source of income for Vietnamese football is the source of sponsorship. In principle, we have to comply with the contract and ensure the benefits of the sponsor.
Therefore, if the tournament is canceled for unavoidable reasons, the contract termination will lead to many consequences.
Not only financial losses but also greatly affect the reputation of the management, organization and operation of the tournament, of the clubs. Therefore, we are looking forward to the sympathy and responsibility, together building positive solutions for the activities of Vietnamese football. "
