Vietnamese boss's FK Sarajevo advance to the Champions League

Club FK Sarajevo won a convincing victory on the field of strong opponent from Wales Connah's Quay Nomads.

As the championship team of the Bosnian football tournament, Sarajevo won a ticket to the UEFA Champions League preliminary round in the 2020/2021 season. Right in the first preliminary round, the team of Vietnamese boss Nguyen Hoai Nam had to come to the field of Connah's Quay Nomads.

Connah's Quay Nomads is the Welsh champion. The match took place at The Cardiff City stadium. Despite being underestimated, Sarajevo entered confidently.

They soon opened the score in the 16th minute by Benjamin Tatar. The Tatar broke the offside trap before overcoming the goalkeeper and then found the net. For the rest of the first half, The Nomads created dangerous opportunities but could not be equalized.

Entering the second half, it was Tatar again when he dribbled in the middle of the field and ended the situation of doubling the gap for Sarajevo, sealing 2-0 score as the final result of the match, this victory put Sarajevo into the second qualifying round.

Their opponent will be Dynamo Brest of Belarus, who beat Astana 6-3 in this round as well. The match will take place on August 26.

On his personal page, Sarajevo boss Nguyen Hoai Nam is pleased to announce the club's victory. Mr. Nam also revealed that there was always a banner in the Cardiff stands with the words "Visit Vietnam". The team took a photo in front of this banner before the match.

Sarajevo is Bosnia's No. 1 football team for many years. Last season, the organizers decided to stop the tournament and take the existing results as the final total achievement. The owner Nguyen Hoai Nam is also trying to promote cooperation with Vietnamese football so that in the near future it can bring Vietnamese players to Europe to play football.
