Vietnam football recieves a support of $1,5 million from FIFA
To combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia, World Football Association president (FIFA) Gianni Infantino has announced that he will support football federations, including Vietnam, for up to $ 1.5 million.
World Football Federation (FIFA) president Gianni Infantino hosted an online meeting with senior leaders of continental federations and member federations to share about the difficulties in the period time against the last COVID-19 pandemic.
At the meeting, the FIFA president sympathized and shared difficulties and concerns with the Asian football federation about the impact of the pandemic on the plans in the near future. He affirmed that FIFA and AFC will continue to closely follow and monitor the situation to have timely solutions and supports for the member federations.
According to the disclosure of Gianni Infantino, FIFA will deduct from the solidarity fund to support each AFC member federation, including Vietnam $ 1 million for men's football and $500,000 for women's football development.
This is a large sum of money and is essential for every country at the present time. The fact that the tournaments have been postponed causes the federation to not have any revenue. The FIFA support will contribute to helping the football background to maintain its operations, continue to invest in target projects, especially women's football.
Most recently, the 2020 V-League was also postponed for a second time this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic showing signs of outbreak again. Therefore, it is necessary for FIFA to provide VFF such a large amount of money at this time so that the federation can operate smoothly without being affected by the pandemic.
