Cong Phuong and Thanh Long are rare players of HAGL JMG Academy who were successful after they left HAGL. The rest of players are not so lucky.

From 2016 to now, HAGL has continually gave young players to other clubs on loan and gave the gifted team abroad or domestic clubs. However, most of the contracts did not bring success. That movement started in the 2016 season with Luong Xuan Truong (blue shirt) as one of the first faces. After playing football in Incheon, Gangwon (South Korea) and Buriram (Thailand), he has not been successful and has returned to HAGL since the middle of last year. Photo: Incheon.

Nguyen Tuan Anh (right) was also one of the three players of HAGL who went abroad in 2016. He only played one season for Yokohama in J-League 2 before returning to V.League. Despite the traumatic injury, Tuan Anh still recovered successfully and is returning strong. He is currently the most successful Gia Lai player in Vietnam. Photo: Yokohama.

Nguyen Cong Phuong also left Gia Lai on loan in 2016. He used to play for Mito HollyHock (Japan), Incheon United (Korea) and Sint-Truidense (Belgium). All three of these attempts failed. He was not allowed to play, he lost his form and then he lost his position in Vietnam. Photo: Incheon.

However, Phuong is reaping initial success by moving to Ho Chi Minh City Club on loan. Phuong's success in Ho Chi Minh City opens a new trend for HAGL players. They can be more successful playing for local clubs in V.League. Photo: Duy Anh.

Moving to Ho Chi Minh City with Cong Phuong were defenders Le Van Son (pictured) and Le Duc Luong. Van Son has quickly taken over the official position. The fierce competition at the current runner-up club, the opportunity to compete with international rivals, the ability to win the title is really what they do not have at HAGL. Photo: HCMC Club.

Before this trio, Tran Huu Dong Trieu also made a mark in Binh Duong season 2019. He was also the first player of HAGL to finish second in the 2018 National Super Cup. However, Dong Trieu is facing many difficulties to find a place Binh Duong. Photo: Binh Duong FC.

Le Pham Thanh Long is considered the most successful player when leaving HAGL on a loan. He used to play for Long An, Hai Phong and currently plays for Thanh Hoa. At any team, Thanh Long also shows a clear impression of expertise. The peak of this midfielder was being summoned to Vietnam Olympic before the Asian Games 2018. Photo: Minh Chien.

Hai Phong is also a favorite destination for loan contracts from HAGL. In addition to Thanh Long, Nguyen Van Hanh (yellow shirt) and Luong Hoang Nam have played for Hai Phong and have the opportunity to express themselves. Photo: Minh Chien.

Dinh Thanh Binh is the strangest loan case of HAGL. He played for Viettel first place in 2018 and the first leg of V.League 2019. Thanh Binh did not play well but was suddenly called up on the preliminary list of Vietnam team for the Asian Cup 2019. He even went to the UAE and was only eliminated in the final list. In the 2020 season, Thanh Binh, Tran Thanh Son (No. 8) and 7 other Gia Lai players were loaned to Cong An Nhan Dan in the Second Division. Mr. Duc said that with this group of players, playing in the Second Division is more than a substitute in the V.League. Photo: Minh Chien.

The "boys of HAGL" did not achieve much success when leaving HAGL. They completely failed when abroad and only really left a mark when playing football in the country. Thanh Long and Cong Phuong can be considered as the two most successful names. Graphic: Minh Phuc
