The AFC suspends an ASEAN player for lifetime due to match-fixing
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has decided to ban Thipphonexay Inthavongsa to play football for lifetime because of match-fixing.
On July 30, the Asian Football Confederation issued a disciplinary decision to goalkeeper Thipphonexay Inthavongsa due to the act of arranging the score.
Specifically, AFC banned former Lao players from participating in football activities for a lifetime.
AFC announced: "The disciplinary committee has banned this player from participating in any activities related to football for life". The Asian Football Association will send a report to FIFA to expand the ban on Thipphonexay Inthavongsa to participate in football around the world.
The goalkeeper, 28, and a number of teammates fixed the score in a friendly match between Laos and Hong Kong took place on October 5, 2017. Earlier, the AFC also issued similar disciplinary sentences with two other players, Khampheng Sayavutthi and Lembo Saysana.
The AFC did not disclose details of the case. However, the Asian Football Federation affirmed that these penalties reflect "Zero tolerance for match fixing".
