The 2008 AFF Cup champion admitted to indulge in dissipation, around $850,000

The 2008 AFF Cup championship players left an unforgettable mark in football fans' hearts. They were the first to help Vietnamese football to the top of the continent and the victory was even sweeter when they defeated Thailand to win the championship.

With that reputation, they were lined with clubs as well as paid huge amounts of money. However, not everyone knows how to spend it appropriately. Cases like Nhu Thanh and Quang Thanh are good examples.

Recently in an interview with Saostar, defender Huynh Quang Thanh recounted a time when he earned tens of billions: "In total, I think more than 20 billion. Must be more 20 billion."

But similar to former teammate Vu Nhu Thanh, Quang Thanh admitted to squandering that money into day and night entertainment.

"Really, if we didn’t sunk in depravity, we wouldn’t have used it all, because at that time the money was of great value. That day, if we knew how to spend money properly, every thing would change now" he said.

I go out, shopping, going to the bar and all that nights. I didn’t have much thought about spending money. If I calculate that, I used to spend around 200 million VND a day.

Mistakes in the past have left a costly lesson for Quang Thanh. He admits that the thoughtless, impudent thinking lacking the guidance of his predecessors has led him astray.

However, now that he is almost in his forties, Quang Thanh shares trying to work to take care of his family. All mistakes have left behind. His main job now is to run a restaurant and teach children at the football academy founded by Cong Vinh.​
