Coach Milicic: 'Australian women try to make no mistake against Vietnam'
Coach Ante Milicic affirmed that the Australian women's team will play with great respect for the Vietnamese women's team.
"We will still use the best squad for the match tomorrow. Vietnam is a good team, strongly develop recently. Australia is expected to face many difficulties in tomorrow's match. We must try our best not to make many mistakes before Vietnam, '' said coach Ante Milicic in the pre-match press conference yesterday.
In the first leg of the home match, the Australian women's team easily thrashed the Vietnamese women's team 5-0. The No. 1 Asian team dominated all the game. However, the result did not make coach Milicic reduce caution in the upcoming match. The Australian press is similar when just hoping the home team doesn't lose too much. If they win this match, the Australian women's team will officially win tickets to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Another factor also mentioned by the press is the unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in Vietnam. Quang Ninh has just announced 3 cases positive for new strain of Corona virus. However, coach Milicic confirmed that this does not affect the team much. The whole team is preparing the best for the match.
The Australian coach also confirmed that bodybuilding is not a determinant of the results of the two teams. “Physical strength is not the main factor. Vietnamese women's team will use the diagram with 5 defenders and compete with high determination. In fact, every player has his own strengths,” he said.
Australia women are the team with the most soccer players in Europe and America at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers in Asia. This helps the team's battle experience become strong and superior to competitors in the same area.
“Some of our players have experience playing abroad. But that is only a factor to develop football. The international competition will help the players have more experience, and become familiar with traveling in many countries around the world, '' said the Australian women's head coach.
The playoff round for the 2022 World Cup qualifier between Vietnam and Australia women will take place at 6:00PM on March 11 at Cam Pha Stadium, Quang Ninh. The match will take place without spectators due to unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 epidemic.
