Coach Mai Duc Chung: 'Australia surpasses Vietnamese women'
Coach Mai Duc Chung was not surprised to see Vietnam women's team receive a 0-5 defeat against Australian women.
“Australia is too strong for us, so it is not surprising that Vietnam has conceded 5 times. They attack diverse, deploy situations with high speed and coordinate extremely well. The Australian players have reached a world level, ” coach Mai Duc Chung acknowledged this after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic qualifying playoffs ended between Vietnam and Australia.
Despite great efforts, the Vietnamese women team could not avoid being conceded many times by Australian players. In turn, Sam Kerr (10 ', 80'), Lorgazo (27 '), Egmand (38'), Polkinghorne (67 ') helped the yellow shirt team defeat coach Mai Duc Chung with a score of 5-0.
Coach Mai Duc Chung regretted that the Vietnamese women's team could not score against the Australia.
However, besides the time of the match, the Vietnamese women's team occasionally has their own opportunities. This makes coach Mai Duc Chung regret when his players failed to score a goal.
“We have some chance to counter. Unfortunately we do not take advantage to score in the first leg. If there is a goal, it will be more fun. Whether or not it can be reversed in the second leg (March 11) or not, my players will devote their best,” the Vietnamese women's team coach admit.
On the other side of pitch, coach Ante Milicic was pleased with the strong victory of the Australian women's team. 'We have complete control of the match. Although the players today are not too sharp, the score of 5-0 shows the good performance of many players,” the Australian women's coach said.
After the match is over, the female team will be at Noi Bai airport at 9:00pm, 7 March. The team will quickly move to Quang Ninh to prepare for the second leg of the Tokyo 2020 playoffs. The match will be held on Cam Pha Stadium on March 11.
Vietnamese women's football fans will not be able to directly support this match because of concerns related to the Covid-19 epidemic.
