BREAKING: V-League 2020 continues to be back in time
Unpredictable developments continue to cause V-League 2020 can not return soon in the near future.
V-League 2020 will continue to be suspended until April 15. This is VPF's latest announcement before the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic.
This was the third time VPF had to issue a notice of postponement of its V-League 2020 organization due to developments related to the Covid-19 epidemic. For the first time, the tournament could not take place as planned in early February. It was not until March 6 that Vietnam's No. 1 tournament could begin.
However, matches across the country will have to take place without spectators.
On March 15, VPF announced the suspension of V-League 2020 for a few days. A few days earlier, the National First Division was forced to stop the first matches right before the opening time.
Answering to the press about the re-opening time of the tournament, Mr. Tran Anh Tu, VPF Chairman, said that there are 3 expected time points including early April, mid-April and early May. He hopes Covid -19 pandemic will soon be under control for the tournament to return at the earliest possible time. However, the number of people infected in the past few days has increased dramatically, making the situation even more complicated.
Therefore, to ensure the safety of the players as well as the whole society, VPF decided that the safest option is to continue reschedule the V-League 2020 and the National First Division to mid April.
Sharing on this issue, VFF Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan acknowledged that Vietnamese football teams are facing a lot of difficulties. In the long-term, this problem can completely create a crisis to the domestic football. VFF is calculating the most reasonable plans possible to help clubs and the national team to minimize difficulties. He also hoped that the peak of the Covid-19 epidemic would be over soon so that football life would return to normal.
