Vietnam officially hosts the AFC Cup 2020
AFC announces that Vietnam will be the member to host group F and G of the AFC Cup 2020.

Recently, the Southeast Asian Football Federation unanimously proposed to change the time for the AFF Cup 2020 to April 2021.
Facing the complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Southeast Asia, the organizers of the AFF Cup 2020 recently held an emergency meeting to discuss and find the most appropriate solution to help the tournament take place. The meeting was attended by all member federations of the Southeast Asian Football Federation.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Standing Vice President of VFF, assessed that the AFF Cup is an important event of regional football. AFF's responsibility is to ensure that the tournament is successful in every way, so that the fans can enjoy the fullest of the matches.
After a discussion, as well as assessing the current disease situation in the countries, the emergency management committee of the Southeast Asian Football Federation determined that the AFF Cup 2020 could not take place in November this year.
Instead, one option has been made and supported by the member federations is to delay the time to organize the AFF Cup 2020 to April 2021. This proposal will be submitted to the AFF Council for consideration.
If approved, the AFF Cup 2020 will be held in April 2021, which will make the tournament more attractive. Because at that time, it is likely that all participating teams will have the strongest force, promising to contribute extremely beautiful matches to the fans.
In the event that the AFF Cup 2020 is postponed to 2021, VFF will follow the plans of FIFA and AFC to take the initiative in the team's preparation for matches in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers in Asia.
